Why are IFL work sessions organized into series?
We know from professional learning research that it takes sustained investment of time into teacher learning in order to change instruction and improve student learning. We also know that participants learn the most from professional learning activities that are integrated with the day-to day work of teaching. It is job embedded. From our research and our personal experience, one-shot workshops have minimal impact on long-term improvement and can even confuse efforts for effectiveness. For maximum results, long-term partnering with highly skilled external providers may be crucial for moving an organization forward. Such partnerships often include focusing on establishing effective collaborative learning teams, coaching implementation and evaluating results, in addition to other professional learning activities.
Can we select work sessions and organize our own series?
We will be happy to work with you to select and organize a professional learning plan that will meet your needs.
